Discussion regarding the pavement markings and edge lines along Hall Avenue from State Highway 180 to Van Cleve Avenue were a topic of discussion at the Tuesday evening committee meeting of the Marinette Board of Public Works. While a bike lane was discussed previously, according to the Wisconsin Department of Transportation this is not feasible. Therefore, the city can put line striping in place to allow a space for bicyclists to ride if there is schero sign or bike sign in place. City Engineer Brian Miller says, “the anticipated edge line is to make motorist aware of how far over they need to be from the curb and give bicyclist who travel down Hall Avenue a little more protection.”

While the city cannot begin work on the edge line until 2022 the committee does agree that the best fit for the city is to allow for the line striping and schero signs. The committee will discuss and take further action at their December meeting.
