Blackjack Speed Shop first appeared on the San Antonio scene about 10 years ago when Spurs’ very own Tim Duncan teamed up with buddy turned partner, Jason Pena. The automotive shop has since earned several awards, including this year’s Best Custom Automotive Shop in the Readers’ Choice Awards.
It all started one evening in Vegas when Tim and Jason discussed starting a storefront to focus on the passion they both shared – cars.
“We started putting ideas together along with our logo, and then the rest is history,” Jason says.
Blackjack has become the premier choice in automotive care for everything from custom cars to farm trucks. “They’re all fun to work on,” Jason shares. “Customers become friends and establish a real rapport with the business. That’s what it’s all about – relationships.”
The company atmosphere is one of family where everyone works for each other. At both locations (Huebner and I35 / Schwab Road), you’ll feel it when you walk in, and that bond has only grown over the past couple of years of the pandemic.
“Through the pandemic, we were ultimately grateful to our customers and friends for continuing to support us and help us get through these trying times. We were able to lean on our car community to ease some of that burden and were fortunate to continue to turn out great work.”
