The North Texas Mustang Club and Five Star Ford Dallas will honor the late Dallas Morning News auto writer Terry Box Saturday at a car show in Dallas. The Mustang Club says it expects up to 50 vehicles at the event at Five Star Ford at 8900 West President George Bush Turnpike in Dallas.

The Honoring Our Friends Car Show will last from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., and Five Star Ford is providing refreshments. The tribute to Box will begin at 11:30, and Jerry Reynolds (The Car Pro) will also talk about the event and his memories of Box on his morning radio show on WBAP (820 AM) from 9 to 11 a.m.

The organizers say that anyone who enjoyed reading Box’s stories in The Dallas Morning News is welcome.

Box, who died in January at 71, was an automotive writer and columnist for 26 of his 35 years at The Dallas Morning News. He was a fan of Ford Mustangs and owned several of them in his lifetime.

Brian Huth, general manager of Five Star Ford Dallas, said Box was a “true car guy and will be missed by many. Terry was respected by all of the area’s car dealers and all of the auto writers, not just locally but all of the Texas Auto Writers Association.”

Box’s daughter, Shawn Flemmer, said: “My dad was larger than life, even though he had a small stature. He lived and breathed cars, starting at a young age he would name every car by make, model and year as they were driving down the street. My dad was such an amazing writer and truly loved what he did — how many people land a dream job of driving cool cars and writing about them?”
